Polymers have been used in many ways dating back to the Mayan days. The Mayans used natural polymers such as rubber to play with. With the use of natural polymers Charles Goodyear invented the car tire. He combined natural rubber with sulfur by heating the two at 270 degrees Fahrenheit. During the years, polymerization was developed. Polymers are being used more and more in our modern age. The world has evolved to using more plastics, fibers, rubbers and proteins. Today most of the work on polymers is focused on improving pre-existing technologies. Polymers are being used to make things less costly or to outperform pre-existing things. The demand of polymers are rapidly increasing, which is leading to more of a demand and more innovations. Another innovation with polymers is having gas being modified to be more effiecent and easier to make than other normal branded gasoline. Also by modifying plastic polymers to make them harder, tougher and much more durable to be used in the automobile industry along with the marine/boating industry as well.
